Local
The idea is that people often don't want to hire someone from halfway across the world for a job. They may be in a different time zone, might not even speak the same language, and can only communicate via video call. In such cases, many people would rather meet in person to discuss things. Additionally, some gigs such as handyman or pet sitting can only be completed locally.
Peer-to-peer
Hoodbee is a peer-to-peer marketplace connecting individuals, not companies to individuals. The rise of side hustles and freelance work has created a demand for independent contractors who can provide lower rates. It also allows individuals to earn money with skills they may not pursue professionally and are perhaps even self-taught.
Vetting
While offering services through a digital platform like this is great, it also creates an essential vulnerability: how can you check people's qualifications to perform the services offered and the quality of their work? The answer is through a rating system. At scale, ratings and customers' experiences are the most reliable source of truth, as demonstrated by companies like Uber and Airbnb.
Sneak peek
While the MVP was great for checking market response and getting initial user feedback, it is far from perfect and there have been tons of learnings from the launch and the first months on the market.
